In the 50s/60's these films would have been called Sword and Sandal epics. Then we have fantasy action movies like Superman, Spider Man, The Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit usually based on Novels or Comics. Finally you have Marshal Arts films and Anime and of course Animation.
