I think time is flying by for Karana bc the weather is changing. I also think they r alike bc both chapters r after a death.

There were maybe a couple of events that were sad but not as much as chapter 27. In chapter 27 it was sad and Karana was getting very unlucky. The mood for chapter 27 is unhappy. The weather makes the mood of the story happy or unhappy because better weather makes you feel better. For example in Ch.27, higher and higher waves makes Karana annoyed, which makes Karana in an unhappy mood. However, if the weather is better, in Ch.18 the weather was nice because the flowers were blooming and nothing made Karana annoyed, like storms. But in chapter 27, the weather is uncomfortably hot, and everything was dry, so the land looked dry and empty because the animals were in their houses until the weather became cooler. This makes Karana in a not such a happy mood. The weather is symbolic of the mood of the story becasue it keeps changing just like Karana’s mood.
