Dachshunds are scent hound dogs bred to hunt badgers and other tunneling animals, rabbits, and foxes. Hunters even used packs of Dachshunds to trail wild boar. Today their versatility makes them excellent family companions, show dogs, and small-game hunters.

But don’t let this pup fool you. Dogs of this breed might be, as legendary literary critic and humorous journalist H. L. Mencken said, “half a dog high and a dog and a half long,” but this small, drop-eared dog is tough enough to take on a badger. In fact, that’s how they got their name (Dachs meaning badger; hund meaning dog).

However, you may know them by one of their many nicknames, including Wiener Dog, Sausage Dog, Doxie, and more. If you’re looking a little pooch who will keep you on your toes and shower you with love, this may be the breed for you. Opt to adopt if you can!

However, they do have quite a bit of energy for a small dog. They’ll need plenty of walks and active play sessions. You might be surprised by how quickly these short-legged pups can move! Sweet and cuddly with a clownish personality, the Coton de Tulear dog breed is always ready for a good time. This smart little dog with the cottony coat originated in Madagascar and is related to the Bichon Frise and the Maltese.

Even though these are purebred dogs, you may find them in the care of shelters or rescue groups. Remember to adopt! Don’t shop if you want to bring a dog home.

Cotons, as they’re called for short, are loving, adaptable dogs who get along well with just about everybody. That includes kids and other dogs! They can fit in with apartment dwellers or live in larger homes, so long as they aren’t left alone for long hours of the day. These low-maintenance pooches can even thrive with novice pet parents who are new to the dog world. If you’re looking for a sweet, smart, playful addition to your family, you’d have a hard time finding a better breed!

Kiara has been an animal enthusiast ever since she was still raised by her parents. The lady used to have 10 different kids of stray pets and would spend all of her money buying food and pet accessories for them. 

Now that Kiara is not any getting younger, she thought, “Paano kaya kung magpatayo ako ng animal shelter? That would be a big help para sa mga abandoned babies na deserve alagaan at mahalin.”

Everytime the lad spent time outside, she would pick-up stray puppies, kitties, cats and dogs she would saw on the streets, outside the restaurants, garbages, and brought them all at once in her condo unit. Kiara would fed and bathe them, treating the stray pets as if they were hers. Though, Kiara already claimed that they are her babies. While she watched them asleep, ideas invaded her mind about building a pet shelter for the stray babies, and have them adopted. As she couldn’t lay an eye of them all the time since Kiara is also busy.

By that, “The House of Paws” was built and opened the doors for all those who will adopt her babies. But then, there are considerations before they will retrieve the furry babies.
