         <description><![CDATA[<div>• <strong>May 4, 1961</strong>: The first event that influenced others to follow. 13 people ( 7 African Americans and 6 Whites)  loaded a bus and headed for the south to challenge the ruling in Boynton v. Virginia <br>• <strong>May 15</strong>: A bus in Anninston AL containing freedom riders was attacked by about 100 KKK memebers that nearly succeeded in torching the  bus.<br>• <strong>May 17</strong>: A group of 16 students from Nashville Student Movement was turned down by a bus driver who refused to let them on the bus in fear of his life.<br>• <strong>May 24</strong>: A dozen freedom riders entered Jackson, Mississippi and tested the segregation rules getting them arrested immediately.</div>]]></description>
