I don’t even know if you actually read the multiple doctors’ notes, but it didn’t matter to either of you!! You KNEW she needed love this year (with only what I felt comfortable sharing after that mandatory week at home for prevention that I won’t mention either) and gave your love so sincerely and generously. Throughout the entire year, you both encouraged her and challenged her!! Even after the week the team of doctors required me to keep her home, she made the best grades that she has EVER earned throughout her entire academic career!! I KNOW without a doubt that this is a result of your constant praise every time she progressed!! I have NEVER been prouder of her 3rd quarter report card than any other grades she has ever received in the past, (I won’t share the DRASTIC difference from the 1st quarter’s report card and the 3rd quarter’s report card, but it was shocking in the best way possible). However, I have never seen a child progress THAT MUCH - even with the mandatory week out and other mandatory doctor’s appointments which we had no control of the appointment times with her very scary conditions.

You get all of the credit!! Your encouragement and understanding (whether you read the actual doctors documentation for general reasons they decided it was ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY to keep her home or not). You are poster teachers of why Lamar teachers truly are THE BEST!! It doesn’t matter if absences aren’t excused or not to you!! (All of her appointments and absences were accompanied with documentation from at least one doctor). You saw a child struggling with things more than others - including adults - and more than I admitted. Then you encouraged her, loved her, and challenged her!! She has learned SO MUCH this year thanks to the both of you!
