Taking time off to read a book with a vanilla scented candle beside me helps me de-stress. A massage at the spa also helps do the trick! But most of the time, it helps having someone to talk to (mostly my hubby or a good friend) about what's bothering me or how I can prioritize my to do list. We need to find the time for ourselves to re-energize. We all need a pause button once in a while. And sometimes, it doesn't hurt to reach out and ask others for help.

For me, I usually manage stress through: hiking, camping, and running. These three activities have been my constant outlets whenever I get stressed out or I feel overwhelmed by life (in general). I've never been one to share my problems with other people (Yeah, I'm a lone wolf like that). It gives me time to think and to reflect about my decisions and what led to me being burned out. It's also nice to just sit and let time flow without doing anything...

Takes a lot of weight off my shoulders afterwards. :)

Pre-pandemic: I manage my stress by mainly travelling (local or foreign destination), and by hiking. These are my forms of escapism when the going gets tough. The fresh air from the mountains, calmness of the beach/sea, and new faces give that sense of comfort by sort of patting me on the back, saying "You're just tired. Rest. Then come back stronger"

Pandemic: I manage my stress by working out, engaging into sports, and playing video games. Knowing that there's still travel restrictions, I find ways to simulate that 'bubble' to let myself breathe.

Since the start of the pandemic, my stress in work and in life has increased tenfold. What I do whenever I'm stressed is to hug and cuddle with my cats. They're soft and fluffy and instantly boosts my mood whenever I'm having a tough day at work or at school.

Another hobby of mine that find pleasurable is tending and growing my plants. When I first started collecting plants, people have told me to talk to them so they can be healthy and luscious. That's what I've been doing ever since and helps me get things off my chest. It feels extremely therapeutic watching them grow and have new baby leaves every so often and makes you feel rewarded for doing your best.

-Martin

Whenever I feel stressed out and anxious at work, I take a moment to pause, take a few deep breaths, and stretch. Also, I used to be a heavy coffee drinker, but I've been trying to cut back since February because it aggravates my anxiety and it causes me palpitations.

I enjoy going for walks, reading books, listening to music, playing the guitar, and watching Netflix in my spare time. On Sundays, I also get massages. :)

Because of this, I already overlook self-care and social life, sometimes even spending quality time with my loved ones.

The best stress relief for me is sleep during the weekends, watching anime/series, exercise and indulging myself to good food. :)

Stress management helps us break the hold stress has on our lives to be happier, healthier, and more productive. When I feel overwhelmed, I usually go for a walk outside or play with my niece, nephew, and cats. During the pandemic, I started baking cookies and having them delivered to my workmates and friends. I found out that baking is the hiatus that I enjoy, especially when I feel stressed.

First on my list of how I deal with stress is to express it through journaling and try to process all the stresses, problems, and emotions I’m dealing with at the moment. Journaling helped me relieve stress, especially during the pandemic. Also, it helped me organize my thoughts and make them more apprehensible. I also try to stay away from social media when I’m stressed. And lastly, I try to take care of myself better by resting (getting a good night’s sleep), exercise, spend time with my family and friends. I think these simple and practical ways really helped me calibrate my mind and body, and get through my stress.

My family loves food. We love buying, making, and eating them. When we travel, bulk of our spending goes to trying out restaurants or food that is unique to the place. It's been hard to relieve stress during the pandemic, because dining out with friends and loved ones is my way of de-stressing. When we were on strict lockdowns, we usually had zoom "dates" to catch up and bond. It's a great way to connect and de-stress!

Pre-pandemic, one of my happiest places to go to is the field (or the court for this instance) to play football/futsal with the AGSB football club. I am able to destress and unwind by doing this as it gives me the opportunity to interact with my friends and professors, meet new people, exercise and burn my stress-eating-related fats. Playing gives me a certain high (probably the endorphins) and somehow gives my anxiety-fueled brain a quick break away from my "problems". I'm happy to share we were able to play again a few weeks ago and I can't wait for the next one. If you are interested to play with us, please feel free to message me and I'll sign you up! - Ayis :)
