I inspire my students who already know that I love them and want the best for them by making connections to the real world to help show that they really need to know what we are learning. I also give examples of when I have had to actually use this skill/knowledge in my own life - J. Wood

I love making connections with my students...what do they like to do...so then I can connect math word problems to something they enjoy. Sports are a topic we love to explore! I have found that this group is very hard working and will try anything I ask. They make it easy for me to enjoy teaching them!!! K.Cook

I hope I inspire my students every day. I show them love and compassion, and let them know that I'm here for them on a daily basis. In first grade, I try to use encouragement to inspire my students. I discourage the word "can't" and have them try their best, and praise them when they do a good job! I also try to make real world connections with them, since usually those are things they can relate to and catches their attention :) - C.McCandless

I love inspiring my students by getting their families involved. If their parents know how much they are loved at school, then the parents are more willing to work with them. If they work with them, the students are receiving more "serve and return" at home each day. They come in filling more confident, well rested, and ready to learn. I love finding one student per day to call/write/email their parents to say something good, even if it's an e-mail to tell the parent their behavior was AWFUL that day. I find a way to tell the parent that I'm on "their team" and that we will get through it together.

L. Bates

Have them write in a journal or do a ticket-out-the-door just to see how they are feeling. If something is going on at home in their personal lives, then it could be affecting their school work. Just asking how they are doing is a way to show you care about them on a deeper level.

L. Idsardi

I try to inspire students through laughter...hopefully showing them that learning (and life in general) can be fun. Also, being consistent with consequences (good or bad) helps them find their place in the world...a sense of belonging...a safe place to mess up, be corrected while being be loved through it all. :)

I inspire students by encouraging them to always do their best. What works for someone else may not work for them so it is important to make it your own and be proud of it. I share pictures and outstanding work in our Team Fleming Bulletin every week so parents are getting to see what their kids are doing, and the kids can then "teach" their parents new things. These kids know that I love them and want them to be successful.

I inspire my students by encouraging them to ask questions and share ideas about whatever we are learning, even it they are not correct. I remind them that we learn from the mistakes we make, and I can help them more if I know where they are making their mistakes. I make sure to make eye contact with them, so they know I care about what they are asking or telling me. I also, inspire my students by praising them often. I believe that lots of praise motivates my students to work hard and do their best. :)

It happens when you take time to listen to them and provide them feedback and guidance. Inspiration comes with a hug, a high five, or a shared joke.
