I believe you grasp things quicker if you're actively participating. We talk about building theories, or how to approach building something. We've talked around physical objects in the room so the students can start to get an idea of how forms are constructed & come together. try to relate it to what they're working on in their studio. I don't do handouts, so they need to take their own notes. Participation is a must. I don't want to talk @ them. They could cover each of the projects, so that if they get stuck they have something visual to reference instead of having to rely on their notes. It actually makes more sense than the way things are traditionally taught now. Learning the skill @ their own pace, but putting those skills to practice when they're around someone who can help would make learning a lot easier with some subjects.
