Chemical Bondings

Haven´t you ever wonder what holds our universe together? Chemical Bonds are happening all around us. This occurs when two atoms combine to form a new substance. So, practically ever substance is the universe that is consistent of more than one atoms has underwent a chemical bond. Isn´t that amazing? Water is a pure example example of a chemical bond; where hydrogen and oxygen come together to form H20. Chemical Bonds are essential to humankind as they are the glue to society. They are very important as without them many things we know today would not be here. Water would be an illusion, as humankind. Without many substances would not exist.

Ionic Bond

Ionic bonds are simply one type of bond that exists in this world. An ionic bond is made of a metal and nonmetal. This type of bond has a high melting point, and are often brittle. But, the lack the power to conduct electricity. The electrons are lost or gained. The electrons are give up or gained, and this gives the atom an electrical charge. A crystal lattice is formed. Simply, this is only one type of specific bond, as many more are present.

Covalent bonds are also another type of bond; out of the three. To form a covalent bond, a nonmetal and nonmetal may come together to form a new substance. A molecule is formed. Electrons are shared. Brittle, solids are often formed, with low melting points. And, they are soft. This is only one type of bond. As many more exist.

Metallic Bonds take place between metals. They are often malleable and ductile. They also conduct electricity and heat. The electrons in the molecule move freely. A new metallic will be formed. They are not condensed like other types of bonds. This is the last type of bond listed here.
