I introduce the lesson by singing clean up and having the kids sit at the carpet (they know that means story/circle time)

The children in my class love this book as it is our focus for the month of Feb. We have already done many projects around the book and have read it before so they are already engaged

Like I mentioned, we have read this book and have done art projects based off of it so children are already familiar with it

students are expected to sit and listen to the story and then put the pictures in order

The focus of this lesson is sequencing. The students have to put the pictures from the story in a chronological sequence.

I would say the 'flow' of the lesson is a circle to small group transition. The lesson starts as a circle time reading a story and then flows into a small group activity.

The teacher uses songs such as 'clean up' and 'everybody have a seat' to transition from free play to circle time. The teacher also walks around the small group table helping children with sequencing.

good example: using transitions in the lesson such as songs

bad example: not setting expectations for sitting at the carpet

The book has been presented throughout the month, so each child has benefitted from reading the story and participating in learning activities.

Together in a large group we will again read the book while comparing our sequencing pages to the book to see if we got the order correct.

since the age group is so young, there is little correction I do to their work as I do not expect them to have perfect sequences.
