The Archaeological Park of Facatativá (Piedras del Tunjo) is located in the municipality of Facatativá, in the department of Cundinamarca. It comprises approximately 27 hectares where you can find rocky shelters, cave paintings and landscapes with great environmental richness.

The ideograms or rock inscriptions drawn on the Piedras del Tunjo, present an amazing similarity with inscriptions found in rocks located in the Australian desert. It is believed they were made by the Australian aborigines more than 40,000 years ago.

Located 1,550 meters from the main park of Facatativá in the department of Cundinamarca; and in turn 40 kms from Bogotá on the Fontibón-Mosquera -Madrid road.

The Archaeological Park of Facatativá was built in the 1930s thanks to its historical and patrimonial importance. Recognized as the first attempt of the State, to acquire properties with archaeological heritage for its protection, investigation and enjoyment.

It is the only archaeological park located in an urban context. And one of the main natural parks near the city of Bogotá. The park has been negatively impacted as an archaeological heritage due to the exploitation it has suffered during the last 70 years.
