Support looks like:

• Sending out the art referral form

• Supporting logistics

• Bruce Randolph presence, not just from our classrooms

• Engaging the Hinkley and Montbello HS students

• Graphic Design, creating visuals.

• Guiding the interns, showing them how to do the things I already know how to do.

• Reach out to organizers and ask them what additional support they need. Where do I fit in?

• Completing specific tasks such as solidifying catering, planning, who will check folks in, panelists, keynote speaker, feedback for current plans.

Methods of engagement looks like:

• Connecting with various BSAs

• Interacting with attendees.

• Engaging my Mrachek and Columbia students in activities that help them further their activism and engagement in community. Keep the energy going outside of the summit. Galvanize them to attend.

Concerns, Obstacles, and Ideas

• Interest - Maybe give students extra credit if they attend?

• Understanding progress - Ask more questions during planning meetings about where and how we are.

• Lack of families from our students - Reaching out to them consistently, asking event organizers to come in and speak to my students.

• Attendee satisfaction - Gifts for attending?

• What steps can we do to fill in during this final week of the summit?

1) Success

• Look:

  • 80 ppl

  • This year will be different from last year

  • Whatever was planned is executed (meaning the youths initial vision and dreams come to reality)

• Feel:

  • Build community

  • Potential youth want to come back and become an intern or fellow

  • Full bellies after eating

• Sound:

  • Individuals' lives were touched

  • We can say we did it

  • We want to hear, "OMG, it was amazing!"

2) Support

• Engage all parties involving interns, adults, and community

• Create a welcoming atmosphere within the planning

• Consistent check-ins with folks who have roles for the event (youth coalition members presenting their YPAR projects)

• Support with the script flow and panel, focusing on coaching the youths in any capacity that they need

3) Methods

• One-on-ones with the youths (zoom meetings, text messages, and emails)

• Send reminder emails and text messages to those who did not RSVP

• Finding a way to connect them to the work

• Classroom-based educators can consider young people to receive incentive after attending the event and filling out an post-event evaluation

• There is a structure set for the creative artwork expression (Faith, Lexa - she is performing)

• Ask staff if they would like to tap into their creativeness to contribute art in the event
