1. Direct instruction on what bias is and how to recognize your own. (identifying your own identity groups: SEL community building type deal, then seeing what bias is, then seeing what your own bias is and how you can work to deconstruct your bias and do better in the future)
2. Gallery walk of Spanish Catholic art of the "New World" verses indigenous art of the same process or the aftermath (there would be a reflection on this) 
3. Create a piece that shows what they noticed as the important parts of the book. (they would have finished the book and think about what the main message is using scenes from the book. They would have to illustrate all of this and it will show what they view as significant and how they see the people and places in the book).
4. Gallery walk and reflect on what they saw people noticed from the book that they put in their art, and what they did not put. Full class debrief)
