My scores this term is lower than I expected. After calculating my grades, I want to improve so that I will have grades I would be proud of next term.
M- My measurable goal is to reach a grade above 92 for the next term. It is completely measurable because I can calculate my score for every task and follow the weight for each type of task. This way I could calculate the required score to reach the overall grade. This is my goal because it pushes me to put even more effort into my tasks.
A- My attainable goal is to do synchronous drills properly. Whenever I use the notebook for math, I copy the solution in front of the class and barely put any effort into solving it. The majority of the time, I draw at the side of my solutions. This distracts me from doing the drills thus hurting my academic performance. When I do not doodle, I put my mind somewhere else and stop doing the drill. This is a very attainable/achievable goal because all I have to do is simply focus. If I focus on the drill and only the drill, I will not distract myself with other activities. This will help me practice the topic.
R- The most relevant goal for me right now is to be more active in class. Not asking or joining consultations is one of the reasons why I have a low grade. In this term, I barely used the consultation sessions at the end of classes. Attending these sessions and being more active in class can help me in achieving other goals like my goal for improvement and higher grades.
T- I will start studying in advance on November 14th and stop at the end of the second term. In the time between November 14th and the end of the second term, I will study in advance to learn more about the topic before the topic is introduced in class. I spent late nights doing some of the homework. I put in multiple hours doing most of them. I know I made many mistakes this term but I did put my best into them. It has been a long time since I was in a classroom answering paper assessment tasks. I studied for 2 whole days before the day so that I can prepare myself for it. Even though I thought I was prepared for anything, I was still nervous about the task. The questions in the first part were confusing. I had been doing drills for preparation and had forgotten the terms used for the numbers and symbols in a radical. I had forgotten terms like Index. This made me think twice about my answers and I kept changing them. In hindsight, I should have not only done drills but also studied the overall topic through reading materials. I spent too much time in the drills that I had forgotten about the terms and other aspects of the topic. I should have read the workbook and other materials more instead of just using pdfs and photo outputs as my only source of information. Another way is to do find other sources of information and use them. I have many ways to find other sources. Websites like youtube and khan academy could help me in understanding more about the topic. "The number of kilos of dalanghita was 4/3 times the number of kilos of mangoes she bought for a total of ₱882". I thought that it meant that only the number of kilos of mangoes cost 882. 882 should have been the cost of the number of kilos of mangoes and dalanghita. It should have been 36y+50x=882, not 50x=882. (See the answer key given by the teacher below this post). I discovered this misconception when the teacher posted the answer key in the google chat. I read through the answer key and reread the word problem. I addressed the misconception by studying more about word problems and how to turn them into a solution and then solve it. I was very nervous about the on-site assessment and this gave me relief because the score says I do understand the topic and I can do an assesment.
