Standardised testing in school should not define how well someone will do in the future and should not affect their opportunities. At the end of the day all it is is a grade on a piece paper, so why should that determine whether or not we do well in life? One small exam at the end of 11 years of education is not a valid way of testing someones knowledge. Everyone makes a big deal that GCSE's determine our future, yet half the adults I know where near asked once what grade they got in GCSE Science or Maths. Its what you do after that determines your occupation. GCSE's are a small step compared to everything else, so i don't see why they're such a big deal and why there is so much stress for children when it is kind of unnecessary at this age.

I agree that we should be tested to an extent as it helps to show us progress and where we need to improve however it may not be necessary all the time if we are not motivated . Everyone is different and we cannot cater to everyone's needs . It is not fair is only some people do tests As it is experiencing the pressure we would be under in real examinations especially at this age. However not everyone may worse well under this pressure thrown upon them. Also some people ,at do well in their standardized tests and when it comes to it they don't do very well.

I agree that standardized testing is important as the standardized procedures allow everybody to have the same experience and chance of getting good grades within a curriculum and nobody has an advantage based on things like iq necessarily. The questions don't cater to a certain type of intelligence but rather on the content of the subject. Bearing that in mind the only differentiation is depending on what tier the students would be put in. Foundation tier students have questions that require simple skills of answering compared to people in the higher tier use the skills that are required in foundation but also more advanced ones. I believe that an alternative should be made available rather than completely destroying the basis of the current examination system.

I think standardised testing in schools is wrong. I think we should be given other alternatives because it doesn't always represent the knowledge a student has. It also puts an unnecessary pressure on students who begin to experience stress due to the high stakes placed on these tests.
