I think the theme of this book is to always stick with your gut feelings and to not believe what people tells you. Some examples of when Kirk (the bad guy) made Cady doubt what she already believed about herself "So, do I believe what this Dr. Nowell told Officer Dillow? Or do I believe my own memories, which go back only A few hours? Did I just hallucinate the cabin and what happened there?" (Henry, 32). Another example of this is "Ty's eyes go wide. "You remember doing It?" "No , but look at the time I wrote that. That's right after he was shot." I start hitting the top of my head with open hands. "My memory must be full of holes. Or making up things that aren't true""(Henry.113)

I would recommend this book to anyone who loves suspenseful book. This book always keep you on your toes, for example in the beginning of the book it says "Footsteps move closer to me. A shoe kicks me in the ribs. Not very hard. More like a nudge. Still, I don't allow myself to react."(Henry, 2)

I would rate this book a 5 out of 5 because it always kept you on your feet at all times because you always wanted to know what happened. The twist at the end of the book when Cady finds out that her parents were actually on the run is so unpredictable.

The most important place this book takes place is Cadence's Family's cabin in Portland. This place is so important in the story because this is the place where Cady first wakes up, where she escaped from, it's what gets destroyed so there's no evidence left behind.
