Q1. It felt good to share my thoughts and opinions to someone who can truly understand me. Sharing appreciation gives us a sense of meaning and allows us to try to understand them on a deeper level.

Q2. Starting off communicating and bonding with our seniors felt a little scary at first and didn't know how the impression of them would turn out but after getting to know them, I felt that perseverance is very important and that we should not judge a book by its cover. As they can express their gratitude and appreciation about council and how things have been working out well which allows the both of us to bond and communicate well.

Q3. Every day we feel that we should never expect the gratitude and appreciation back and instead we should just pass it on and return it to our closed ones and people around us. As a simple thing and action that is being done in a daily life, can make someone feel happier and even though that small action does not mean a lot to us, it could have a greater impact on someone else. Lastly, we can also do small actions like asking our closed ones how their day was and to trying to Foster wholesome and loving connections with each other.

Q4. I felt that it gave us an opportunity to talk and bond with each other. By doing the challenges, we can understand each other better and understand the traits of each other better.

Reflection Questions:

1) It felt really motivating, touching and encouraging to take a moment express appreciation for one another. We were able to share small words of encouragement for one another to keep us going . It feels reassuring, to know that there are people there for you who appreciate your presence and accepting you for who you are.
2) Yes, i got to learn more about their different personalities and their perspectives on different things. They were also kind and sweet.
3) We can inculcate small yet effective habits like gratitude journaling. we can also express our appreciation for the small things in life by saying “ thank you “ for someone’s efforts like the cleaners we walk past everyday.
4) These activities made us more aware of each other and helped us express our emotions to one another. We also learnt about each other’s hobbies and interests.

1. How did it feel to share appreciation with one another?

It felt heartwarming and uplifting to share and receive appreciation from one another. It created a positive atmosphere where everyone felt comfortable and valued. Sharing about our day and supporting each other through challenges made the experience even more meaningful, as we cheered each other on and expressed gratitude for the little things, like lending a listening ear or offering advice.

2. Did you learn something new about your MM members?

Yes, through these conversations, we gained new insights into our MM members, such as their strengths, qualities, and contributions to the Student Council. While we may not have learned entirely new things, it was reassuring to realize how well we get along. Our conversations flowed smoothly, were filled with laughter, and created a deeper sense of connection and appreciation for one another.

3. How can we incorporate gratitude/appreciation into our everyday lives instead of it being a one-time event?

We can incorporate gratitude into our daily lives by making it a habit to express appreciation through small gestures, such as saying thank you, leaving thoughtful notes, or acknowledging others’ efforts. Additionally, we should recognize that gratitude isn’t just for positive moments, like winning an award, but also for challenges that help us grow. Keeping gratitude journals and actively appreciating both the good and the difficult experiences can help us develop a more grateful mindset.

4. How did these activities help deepen the bonds with your group members?

These activities helped strengthen our bonds by fostering trust, understanding, and a sense of support. By openly expressing appreciation, we created a positive and encouraging atmosphere where we knew we could rely on one another—not just in Council, but also in school and everyday life. It reinforced the idea that we are there for each other, whether for guidance, help, or simply a moment of laughter and connection.

We were able to brighten each other’s day and show them that we recognised their efforts!

2)We all learnt that each of us were willing to try our best and to work hard in achieving our goals and aims. We also learnt more about each other’s personalities- extroverts/introverts.

3)Gratitude and appreciation for even the smallest things should be embedded in our minds and practice daily as even those little moments remind us of whatever we already have instead of clamouring for things we don’t have .To be grateful of what life brings us, and to find even a small speck of light in times of darkness would be what we should work towards! By doing so, we can truly cherish and cherish the things we have.We can show appreciation through our words/actions to our peers— making them motivates and rising their spirits.

4) This was a platform for us to interact and to grow closer in a way. We were able to connect better with one another and to bond while sharing meaningful experiences together. We knew each other better eventually and we hope our bond continues!

This way, you can not only motivate yourself as well as motivate others.

We learnt more about each other such as their favourite subjects and subject combinations. Learning things from each other can strengthen the bond and can allow us to work better with one another.

For example, we can keep a gratitude journal. After each day or each week at least, we can write down what we are grateful for. This helps us to keep ourselves happy, positive and motivated through darker times. By thinking positively, it can improve our mood and decrease our stress levels. For appreciation, we should not hold back our appreciation for others, remembering to express it, as this can help to brighten their mood and decrease their stress levels.

By doing this activity, we got to know more about each other, understanding our differences and also how our life currently is, able to share with each other our challenges and troubles in and out of school.

April:

1. It felt very comforting to be and share appreciation, and made me feel more connected to my mentors

2. Throughout the activity and the small talks we shared, I got to learn new things about them, such as their school life, their thoughts and values, challenges they have faced and how they overcame them etcetera. It was very inspiring to me to hear and know such things about them, and it also made me feel closer to them :D

3. We can incorporate gratitude or appreciation in our daily lives by having an overall more positive outlook about matters. Approaching issues or hurdles with an open mind and an optimistic mindset can give us new perspectives we'd never have noticed or thought about if we only stuck to seeing things as it is. To remind ourselves to think positively, we can keep or do something physical so it'd have a deeper impression on us, such as keeping a gratitude journal listing the little things in our day-to-day life that we are grateful to experience, or writing a sticky note and pasting it on one's desk of positive affirmations to oneself. Reflecting on such little details can help us truly grow or feel genuine appreciation for the lives and people we have.

4. These activities and the interactions we had made my group members feel more approachable and comforting to talk to. In a strange way, I feel disconnected from my seniors at times because of the lack of experience we share and the fact that I am younger than them, but talking and bonding with them made them feel more human, in a sense, where they weren't just seniors that I respect, but also people I felt personally connected to and people that I considered friends :)

Olivia:

1. Sharing appreciation with each other helped me to get to know my mentee/grand mentee better.

2. I learnt more about their school lives and how they are coping with the new school year. As we have new people in our mentor mentee family (april), we got to have meaningful conversations that helped us to better support each other.

3. We can cultivate the habit through daily affirmations/reflections that will help us to appreciate the things around us.

4. These activities gave us opportunities to bond and talk to each other outside of council meetings.

Jaslyn:

1. I think it was really nice to see how we all show our appreciation for each other and those around us.

2. I became closer to them and I also got to know them better. Through the short but meaningful conversations we have with each other, we learnt more about our hobbies etc. As well as share words of advice with each other.

3. We can engage in small, simple actions frequently. These actions, while simple, can go a long way and show our appreciation for each other.

4. I got to know them better and bonded more with my M&M members, and I think we feel more comfortable around each other too, which is really nice to see!

1) it felt very interesting as we got to understand one another to a deeper level and have more interaction time.
It was a very fulfilling experience as we were able to share our gratitude and appreciation for each other which is not something we do regularly to know about others in our care! Hence, having the opportunity to do this made that moment very special

2)We learnt about each other’s personalities, experiences and interests which made us appreciate each other for our uniqueness. We also learnt more about each other’s lives and what we did over the weekend or how we spent our free time and its really nice to see a glimpse into each other’s lifestyle and how one another is coping, and we also hope that any hard moments shared eased the stress of it !!

3)we can incorporate gratitude into our everyday lives such as having meals with out families and spending time with our friends. We should express gratitude towards such small activities everyday. We should not take things for granted and always appreciate the small things around us.

we also think taking the time to reflect at the end of the day is very important to being grateful for every thing we have in life. seeing the little things brings about a more positive outcome because they tend to be overlooked by the bigger things, that we dont see the small actions that carry! thinking deeply about our day and actions help to amplify graciousness in our lives!

4)it allows us to spend more time with one another and understand or explore our personalities while making new bonds. It also fosters a deeper understanding and connection between us making us bond together. we may not always find out about each other’s day as everyone has their own busy schedule sometimes that we forget to care for the people around us. we think this bonding activity allows us to check in on each other, and ourselves too

It felt incredibly heartwarming as we each wrote down notes of appreciation to one another. I’ve saw it as a great opportunity for us to know each other better and about our personalities as well. It can be a simple act and it does not require much effort to be done. We can express our words of gratitude through heart-to-heart conversations or through letters of encouragement. A simple ‘thank you’ can mean a lot when said sincerely and gratitude does not have to be grand or expensive.

These activities have helped me to know better about my buddies. It was so fun coming up with ideas on how to complete the challenges and we really look forward to them as it allows us to bond together.
