A country's essential economic performance can be seen in its gross domestic product. That is, the total quantity of all goods and services sold in the country. Worldwide, the 2022 gross domestic product was $11,973 per capita. In contrast, Australia's GDP reached 61,245 euros per inhabitant, or 1.591 trillion dollars for the country as a whole. Australia is, therefore, one of the largest economies in the world and currently ranks 12th. If this is calculated per inhabitant, taking purchasing power parity into account, Australia ranks 19th on the list of the richest countries in the world.

The inflation rate in Australia in 2021 was approximately 6.59%. Within the EU, the average in the same year was 8.83%.

Education in Australia is the essential responsibility of its states and territories. Each government provides funding and regulates public and private schools within its own area of administration.

Australia's healthcare system is considered a mixed system as it is subsidized through a public-private partnership. Australia's public health service, also known as Medicare, is universal, guaranteeing coverage for all Australian citizens. Medicare is largely financed by the Australian government and the rest is financed from a fee, which is deducted annually from Australians' income tax, when 2% of taxable income goes to financing this public system.

However, universal healthcare is relatively new in Australia. Health care in the 19th century was largely a private matter. The quality of health care depended on many factors, including: where you lived, what type of training and education you had, and your income level.
