The Founding Fathers drew upon Montesquieu's belief, the separation of power, when drafting the Constitution. One of Montesquieu's well known beliefs was the separation of power. Montesquieu belief included that government corruption could happen if the system did not include a balance of powers. He conjured up an idea the separated  government authority into three branches: legislative, executive, and judicial. Although liberty is freedom, Montesquieu believes that it is not freedom to do whatever you want, such as harming people without repercussions. He believes that while individuals should have liberty, government must have some restrictions on it.
