Hawthorne got into reading when he hurt is leg and was bedridden for many months. In college Hawthorne surprising cared very little about school. Hawthorne worked at home for a bit and then eventually meet Sophie Peabody, and married her a few years later. </div>]]></description>

The birth rate in this colony were very slow and women were being forced into marriage. This lead to the two most common crimes which were adultery and rape. She has been shamed in society and the town is against her. However, Hester doesn't flee the town, but she stands proud with Pearl by her side. It is clear that she beginning to overcome the odds and throughout the story the audience may begin to see her do this more.</div>]]></description>
