Hall of Fame

One inspiring song that I have experienced is Hall of Fame by "The Script" and
"Will.i.am". This song inspires to push myself to be the best that I can be and strive to be successful.

During the 2013 rowing season I made the open first VIII for the first part of the pre-season. Then
when we went on our tour in New Zealand, I was dropped to the second VIII and this really upset me. Not only because I was dropped but because I was now in no man’s land. I wasn't in the firsts, I couldn't stay in the seconds and if I was to go to the year 11 first’s crew, someone else would have to move down and that would ruin the whole 16's crew layout. Emotionally, I was destroyed for the rest of the NZ tour. When I got back to Australia, I was determined to push myself to my very limits to work my way back into the first VIII. We had 4 weeks of personal training before the school program resumed and I spent the time building myself up physically and mentally. By then end of the 4 weeks, I was lifting heavier, running longer and remaining focused. We came back to the shed ready to trial for our crews. I achieved the best time in the shed for the ergometer and 11th in the scull trial. I placed 8th overall, landing me the firsts by the skin of my teeth. Without me training in the break, I wouldn't have made the crew I wanted to. This song was my anthem for that 4 weeks and still inspires me to better myself.

Spiritual Practice - Reflection and Relaxation

The practice of reflecting and relaxing is so simple, yet to me is one of the most important parts of living. Nothing is better than escaping from the hectic nature of contemporary lifestyle to think about life and how it's working and what could be done to improve it. Generally, I turn on a playlist of very rhythmic music on my phone with my headphones on loud and lie on my bed, simply vibing out. I sing along in my head with the songs I know and pay close attention to the lyrics of songs I don't. This spiritual practice is used to relieve stress and just to simply escape. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys music and can associate themselves with it.

Inspirational Poetry

This image is actually the shortest poem ever written, it is a lower-case i dotted with the fingerprint of the poet. We all use the letter I when talking about ourselves, and we all say it slightly differently. Yet when we write it, or type it, everyone's I looks the same. This i dotted with a fingerprint symbolizes individuality and separation. Then look at this poem and recreate it myself, I know that my i is different to everybody else in the world. This enhances my spirituality as I take pride in being myself and knowing that there is no one else in the world exactly like me.

Our Father, Our God

Our Father, our God, in my own consciousness Let me find happiness in the
love of Thee, For the love I bear toward my fellowman. Let my life, my words, my
deeds, bring the joy And happiness of the Lord in Jesus to each I meet, Day by
day.

Thi prayer is a constant reminder to live simply every day. My version of spirituality involves making yourself happy and this cannot be achieved unless you live for yourself. In doing so, however, I feel that in order to live for myself, I must live for others as this is what makes mw happy. So, saying this prayer is a good reminder to live for yourself by living for others.
