         <description><![CDATA[<div>My topic "The Harlem Renaissance" was a time of cultural, social, and artistic explosion. It took place in Harlem, New York, in the 1920s. Many things happened in The Harlem Renaissance, such as the Great Migration of African Americans. The Great Migration happened because  African Americans were moved from their homes because of them not being good enough for economic opportunities and harsh segregation laws. Many of them moved North to take advantage of the need for industrial workers. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>* The Harlem Renaissance was the development of the Harlem neighborhood in New York City as a black culture mecca in the early 20th Century and the subsequent social and artistic explosion that resulted. <br>* The social foundations of the movement included the Great Migration of African Americans from rural to urban spaces and from South to North, dramatically rising levels of literacy, and the development of national organizations dedicated to pressing African American civil rights. <br>* Black History Week, Now Black History Month, was first celebrated in 1928 at the instigation of the historian Carter G. Woodson (1875-1950). <br>* By the mid- 1930s, the optimism of the "renaissance'" was wearing thin as the Great Depression clamped down and Marxist orientations gained dominance.<br><br></div>]]></description>
