         <description><![CDATA[<ul><li>DEVELOPMENT - Praise for effort and for improvement can build a student’s self-confidence.  Esteem can be boosted by emphasizing his or her performance relative to personal goals.  It is important for students to feel seen and understood. </li><li>Guided discussion is motivating and allows for critical thinking, analysis and synthesis of information.  These motivate and drive their thinking.  </li><li>Reinforcement strategies that are beneficial to students include reviewing notes and and concepts on study guides. </li><li>Positive social interactions with peers through groups, group discussions, group projects and group presentations. </li><li>Storytelling </li><li>DEVELOPMENT - Making class student centered, simulating, entertaining and interactive.  Humor results in more attention, interest, positive rapport and retention of material. </li><li>DEVELOPMENT - Students working together to determine answers and create explanations. </li></ul><div><br><br></div><div><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong> </strong></div><ul><li>When focusing on advanced topics (math but could be used in other subject area as well) student achievement grew more quickly than when they focused on basic topics.  </li><li>When teachers participate in professional development that focused on instructional strategies, they were more likely to teach in ways that fostered more student growth. </li></ul><div><br></div><div><br></div><ul><li>Differentiated instruction results promotes individual student growth. </li></ul><div><br></div><div><br><br></div>]]></description>
