'The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert' made in 1994 follows the adventures of three
cross-dressing Australians as they travel through the outback to perform in a show. This movie was
controversial in how it addressed different sexual preferences and broadcasted the fact to a large
audience. It's international success and importance stems from how they showed cross-dressing
entertainers and others of different preferences in a positive way.

Another film which was released in the 1970's film revival was 'Mad Max. This movies focused on a
darker side of Australia as an Australian police officer who once had everything to live for turns into
a mad man remaking vengeance on those who took his best friend, wife and baby away from him.
The film shows how Max's life spirals down into darkness as he enters the world of revenge. Mad
Max, which had high international success, dealt with a near apocalyptic scenario where the police
can only do so much to stop the social collapse. Mad Max also achieved two sequels which
weren't as popular as the original

who was raised by a white family but when she was sixteen, she was abutted by an aboriginal man
named Marbuck. The film shows the stories of these two characters as they struggle with their
culture and those around them. Jedda was the first Australian film to been be filmed in colour and it

problem concerning Muriel is that she has never been on a date before. She is also ridiculed by

The 2008 film, 'Australia', performed well in Australian cinema but didn't perform as well in America.
The film, however, was received well in other counties. The film deals with a number of issues and
drags on to be an incredibly long movie, which was a reason for its share of bad reviews. 'Australia' shows the role of Drovers in olden day Australia and it also shows the issue of racism and the stolen generation.

1981's Gallipoli' spouted themes of mateship, larrikinism and disdain for authority. The movie impacted Australia's pop culture and identity as it confronted the British role in the Gallipoli campaign and demonstrated the conduct of the Australian troops. While the film had historical errors, they were ignored as the themes from the film prevailed much higher. Gallipoli is now used in high school history lessons. The film also brought the history of the Gallipoli campaign to everyone's attention for more than just the history. It links to the Australian identity.
