This study examines how differentiated writing instruction supports 10th grade students in moving from single-paragraph responses to full essays. 20 students from diverse schools participated, with baseline samples revealing common challenges in thesis statements, transitions, organization, and conclusions. Surveys and observations identified distinct learning preferences: auditory learners benefited from peer discussion, kinesthetic learners from sentence strips and paragraph ordering, and reflective learners from journaling and color-coding. Over three weeks, differentiated supports such as graphic organizers, jigsaw reading, peer correction, and video scaffolds were implemented. Post-intervention essays showed notable gains in organization, coherence, and task completion, confirmed through rubric scores, peer checklists, and self-assessments. Students also reported increased confidence in structuring essays and developing thesis statements. Findings highlight that tailoring instruction to varied learning styles fosters measurable improvement in writing skills and builds greater confidence.

This journey helped me to teach writing skills in a more proper way which requires not only giving instruction on particular subject and demand assignments but also adapt instructions. My teacher research topic was focused on writing from paragraph to essay. At the first students struggled with thesis statement, transitions and essay organization. Instructions that were given before the research were not clear, so my aim was:

Identify my students' learning style

Adapt writing instructions to my students' needs

Apply writing activities that could help them to write paragraphs and essays accurately

Students began to gain both writing skill and self-confidence, and apply writing strategy and techniques which are very close to their learning ability
