During the first week of unit 6 I tried to process the information given rather than stress about the structure of the new unit. After reading the brief and understanding the time table for unit 6 I felt anxious about the lack of contact I would be receiving from interior design tutors which would be replaced by lectures from external people and tutors from other courses.  

I tried to not over-whelm myself and I spoke to some of my friends on my course about how they were feeling about the new unit, to which they felt similar to me, making me feel less worried about it. 

I had a 1:1 15-minute teams call with my tutor Matthew which I was looking forward to as I had not previously had any tutor contact within this unit. After speaking to Matthew, I felt excited to progress with the unit and a bit relieved that I had been given some support; however, I also felt overwhelmed and still quite confused about what is expected of me to do within this unit.

During the fifth week of unit 6 I worked on my ‘Pecha Kucha’ developing my ideas, thinking about potential outcomes and continuing to research and record.

During the sixth week of unit 6 I have used this week to take time for myself for some meditation and self-care to prepare myself for the end of the Christmas holidays. I have refocused my thoughts and enabled myself to feel prepared and refreshed to start the new term and push myself and my work forward.

During the seventh week of unit 6 I have used this week to really gather and focus my thoughts and begin to organise my research so it is clear where I am at and what needs to be done. To do lists and the boards I use have helped with this. This week is the most motivated and positive I have felt throughout the entire project and I am ready to start the new year and new term focused and ambitious.

Although I have had mixed emotions and concern with the news of the third lockdown, I am positive that this is a great opportunity for me to completely focus and achieve within unit 6.

During the eighth week of unit 6 I have used this week to organise my work in my InDesign documents, get un finished work done and progress on my development work by thinking about what materials and software’s I want to use within my practical work. I decided model making with foam board and SketchUp will be my main materials for this unit.

During the nineth week of unit 6 I presented my personal project to my group where they gave me critical feedback to help me progress my project. I found this session useful as the members of my group were great at giving me constructive criticism which then made me realise, I actually felt a bit stuck with how I was going to progress my project and that I need to do more research and brainstorming. 

I emailed Matthew explaining I felt a bit stuck for ideas so we had a call and discussed my theme which he felt confident with and helped me to generate some ideas to think about. This week was crucial in my development as I felt lost with where to progress the concept of a memorial to deciding that the space was going to be based around a table and to be a celebration of life rather than a traditional morbid funeral reception. I left the meeting feeling much better and eager to progress my project.
