‘CEO: a chief executive officer, the highest-ranking person in a company or other
institution, ultimately responsible for taking managerial decisions.’ Some of the
many reasons that I decide which country to set up my factory in is that there
is a cheap labour, with probably the least tax value and this would mean that I
would probably set this up in a third world country because all of these
examples will come in handy because third world countries would do anything for
a job and a little bit of cash. By me setting up a factory in a less developed
country it means that it will Provide a better economy, Provide jobs, prevent
poverty, provide housing and creates opportunity for people to work in clean
areas. For all jobs there has to be benefits for the workers. My benefits will
be to provide them with beds and food, I will also provide a 24 hour nurse on
sight in case you get injured.

Overall the effect of globalisation has greatly affected the
environment throughout the world. Globalisation foundation is cheap labour, without cheap labour globalisation would be minor compared to what it is today. Well why cheap labour? Cheap labour is used to maximise profits which has great effect on the environment as cheap labour is only possible if there are no treatment plants as well cheap labour occurs where the tax rates are extremely low, which means the government has limited funds to control pollution. A big sector of the industry contributes to the use of cheap labour and harming the environment, this industry is the TCF industry (textile industry). . You may be thinking that big and popular companies such as Nike and Adidas do not use cheap labour and do not pollute the world, but this is incorrect. Two of the biggest sport companies in the world Nike and Adidas pollute just as much as other companies or if not more. Both Nike and Adidas are corporates for polluting 2 major rivers in China, the Yangtze (China’s longest river) and the Pearl river. Waste water which contains hazardous and toxic chemicals were released into these rivers. Some of the chemicals include of nonylphenols and perfluorinated chemicals which are used to make materials stain and stick resistant, these chemicals are banned in European countries due to their harm to the environment. These actions of these major companies had major effects on the environment, fish and marine life consumed this water which caused the rivers to be full of dead fish. The deadly waste water also killed the environment surrounding the rivers and many humans were affected as the Yangtze and Pearl rivers are the source of drinking water for 67 million people, which is 3 time the population of Australia! Both Nike and Adidas stated that they have made sure that this incident won’t occur again. Overall globalisation, in particular the textile industry destroy and kill the environment in many ways but this can be easily stopped if companies decided to make the eco decision and not destroy the environment that we live in.
