Throughout the past, many events could have impacted the future of people’s personal lives or overall, the world. As Faulkner once said about the difference between the past and present, “The past is never dead. It’s not even past.” Faulkner is stating that the past never really dies because it will always be a part of our lives. I agree with this statement because the former events will always stick to both the past and the future. I believe that the past will never actually die because the present is not only going to stay the present, it will eventually turn into the past.

The fact that people can recall back to when this event happen and be able to “replay” the attack happening goes to show that this moment in time will be constantly thought about. Knowing that you lost someone is intensely heartbreaking to anyone but being able to recollect and reminisce the past memories that you had with that person before they passed away will help to relive those moments and the loved one.

One occasion that stood out the most was the Sandy Hook Shooting in Connecticut. The fact that children, grades one through five, were involved in a mass shooting resulting in the death of 28 people, including 20 children. I had an emotional connection with this event because this was very hard to take in since I am still a child and knowing that anything can happen at any moment is very traumatizing to think about.

I can connect to a past experience because in 2005, I remember when I got my first dog. I will never forget the day that we decided to get out dog because to this day, Kona is still alive. I believe that the past is not dead because I vividly remember the environment of the place we got my dog and the instant connection that we had.
