FBLA was founded in 1937 by Hamden L. Forkner. The first high school chapter was chartered at Science Hill High School in Johnson City, Tennessee, on February 3, 1942.

The three divisions of are FBLA FBLA Middle School, FBLA High School, and FBLA Collegiate. FBLA stands for Future Business Leaders of America. The official publication (magazine) of FBLA is Tomorrow’s Business Leaders. The FBLA National Center headquarters is located in Reston, VA. March of Dimes organization is national service partner of FBLA.

FBLA has approximatley has 250,000 members nationwide. Four individual competitive events a student may enter in FBLA: Accounting 1, Business Calculations, Cyber Security, and Journalism. Two chapter events in which FBLA members may participate: American Enterprise Project and Community Service Project.

The FBLA colors are blue and gold. The 3 goals of FBLA: Develop competent, Aggressive business leaders, Strengthen the confidence of student in themselves and their work, and Create more interest in and understanding of the American Business Enterprise. Three inappropriate dress items according to the National FBLA website are jeans or pants with holes, shorts or athletic wear, and leggings, tights, or tight clothing.

I believe education is the right of every person.

I believe the future depends on mutual understanding and cooperation among business, industry, labor, religious, family, and educational institutions, as well as people around the world. I agree to do my utmost to bring about understanding and cooperation among all of these groups.

I believe every person should prepare for a useful occupation and carry on that occupation in a manner that brings the greatest good to the greatest number.

I believe every person should actively work toward improving social, political, community, and family life.

I believe every person has the right to earn a living at a useful occupation.

I believe every person should take responsibility for carrying out assigned tasks in a manner that brings credit to self, associates, school, and community.

I believe I have the responsibility to work efficiently and to think clearly. I promise to use my abilities to make the world a better place for everyone.
