He know he did not have the physical strength to fight. After he got jumped by a group of thugs from his high school he knew he had to learn how to fight and win. The movie showed that when we don't have the strength In ourselves we need to be able to learn how to be strong from others. The karate kid found strength in unexpected places and learned how to be strong in unorthodox way's. The movie was humorous and also showed dramatic and visual fight scenes. The painting "hidden strength" is a depiction of Rosie the Riveter.  Knowing the history behind the picture helped me understand that when its needed unexpected people step up and show strength.
