         <description><![CDATA[<div>Dear students, </div><div><br></div><div>Please continue to contact me with any questions that you may have!</div><div>Directions for all assignments are explained below. Read carefully!</div><div><strong>Work on assignments in the following order:</strong></div><div><br></div><ul><li>CommonLit “The Two Travelers” due 11/19 Tuesday. I would recommend doing this first in class and then working on your group assignments! </li><li>Creating one of the following new endings for “The Monkey’s Paw.” There is a location to upload this on Google Classroom. (Due 11/20)</li></ul><div><br></div><ul><li>The last assignment for “The Monkey’s Paw” will be making New Rules!. (Due 11/20)</li></ul><div><br></div><div>*Please look on Google Classroom under “classwork” to locate where to attach your work! </div><div><br><br></div><div><strong>NEW ASSIGNMENT #1: ALTERNATE ENDING TO “THE MONKEY’S PAW</strong></div><div><br></div><div><strong><br>Background: “The Monkey’s Paw” illustrates that no good can come from testing fate. The conclusion of this story is open to individual interpretation. Students will continue the story from the point of the door opening.  The continuation will serve as a new conclusion to the story and should be written in the same tone of “The Monkey’s Paw”. Students will determine what the third wish is and write a new conclusion to the story. Students should use descriptive language in the new conclusion.      </strong></div><div><strong><br>Directions: Create an alternate ending to the story. In order to change the ending of the story, please make sure that you change Mr. White’s last wish or keep his last wish the same, yet make the results at the end play out differently. <br></strong><br></div><div><br></div><div>CHOOSE ONE OF THE FOLLOWING ENDINGS (6 ENDINGS) TO ELABORATE UPON IN A NARRATIVE THAT IS 2-3 PAGES LONG. CREATE A GOOGLE DOC. WRITE IT JUST AS YOU DID YOUR NARRATIVE ANTHOLOGIES BUT WITH THE NEW PROMPT IN MIND...</div><div><br></div><div><strong>PROMPT:  </strong>AT THE END OF “THE MONKEY’S PAW” MR. WHITE MAKES HIS LAST AND FINAL WISH…THIS WISH CHANGES THE ENDING OF THE STORY.</div><div><br></div><ol><li>THE FINAL WISH CORRECTS ALL OF THE PREVIOUS WISHES.</li><li>THE FINAL WISH CAUSES MORE DESTRUCTION TO THE WHITE FAMILY.</li><li>THE FINAL WISH ALLOWS THE FAMILY TO MAKE MORE WISHES.</li><li>THE FINAL WISH DESTROYS THE PAW FOREVER.</li><li>THE FINAL WISH RESETS TIME AND IT IS AS IF THE PAW NEVER EXISTED.</li><li>THE FINAL WISH IS NEVER MADE AND MR. Make sure that your rules are specific and clear to your audience.
