It was written by Franco Corliano from the village of Calimera in Salento, in Griko — the dialect of the Greeks in Apulia and Calabria...

The "pizzica di San Vito" refers mainly to a tradition from Salento linked to the ritual of tarantism and to the saint of the same name, who was invoked for healing. There is talk of an exorcism ritual against the "taranta", through a wild dance performed in a circle, sometimes with the use of water, to free people from ailments and convulsions. The dance, in a more modern and festive way, is also a traditional courtship dance that celebrates the end of summer.
