Canva was, besides Google Forms, perhaps the easiest and most user-friendly tool we used.
It was exceptionally valuable in teaching students the incredibly important skill of summarising as well as being able to extract the main concepts or most important information from a large volume of content when studying.

Canva also enables the added benefit of creating relevent, updated infographics when many on the Internet are outdated or largely focused on America only. This is invaluable with most of the Matric syllabus, especially in Life Sciences as new technology, discoveries and advancements are constantly changing the accuracy of online results.

A problem I did face with Canva is the sheer volume of templates, images and other content available, which in addition to having to much to go through, is also a problem due to the fact that it is not arranged in a streamlined, concise manner. This results in extremely large amounts of time being wasted by anyone who has difficulties concentrating or staying on track when completing assignments. A valid concern with students for obvious reasons

Google forms is incredibly user friendly for both the individual creating the form and those completing it. Of all the software and online tools available to teachers, this is probably the quickest method for creating a worthwhile, beneficial task or activity that meets the requirements and standards of a traditional formal assessment.

With Google forms it is possible to get instant feedback regarding a student's performance and/or understanding of the subject content. This enables intervention before a formal assessment has taken place, which was difficult previously. This not only improves the marks in formal assessments as a result, but more importantly helps boost the student's confidence and consequently their interest and enjoyment in the subject.

The BEST part of using Google Forms is the that it marks the activities and records the marks! This saves incredibly valuable time. Now instead of spending vast amounts of time marking repetitive multiple choice or one word answers for the entire grade, I am able to give valuable, personalised feedback to the questions that required higher order, written responses.

This style of learning is invaluable as it not only helps learners who are struggling to grasp concepts or hone skills, but additionally benefits the stronger students by encouraging them to engage with the content as an instructor, requiring them to analyse and interpret the content at an even deeper level.

Interactive learning allows the material to be analysed and processed in a variety of different ways which contributes towards a more holistic, deeper understanding of the concepts and skills covered. More notable was the effect of INSTANT feedback DURING an activity, when students could reflect on an error before attempting follow-up questions. This helped develop the ability to self-reflect and learn from their mistakes, as opposed tp just correcting errors in the unlikely event that that they will return to past papers and reflect upon prior mistakes in anticipation of future assessments. This aspect of Google Forms was invaluable!
