         <description><![CDATA[<ul><li>Founded by William Penn and others in 1682</li><li>The Pennsylvania Colony was named by King Charles II after William Penn's father Admiral Sir William Penn, and the Latin word meaning woodland - Sylvania.</li><li>The capital of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, was the site of the first and second Continental Congresses in 1774 and 1775, the latter of which produced the Declaration of Independence, sparking the American Revolution.</li><li>Was known to be one of the more successful colonies at the time by local American Indian groups</li></ul>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The religion of Pennsylvania was called the Quaker religion and there is also religious freedom for anyone who believes in god. Not only that but many other people like the Dutch or the Germans who were Quaker were welcomed into Pennsylvania and this caused them to be very diverse.  <br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>* The Colony of Pennsylvania had a mild climate with coastal plains, plateaus and mountains. Much of the land suited farming.<br><br>* The climate and geography of colonial Pennsylvania was similar to that of the current state of Pennsylvania. <br>* The coastal plain region, low lying hills and river valleys of Pennsylvania were notable for their long summers and wild winters. This allowed for a growing season of 5-7 months. Average temperatures were around 50 degrees F.<br>* <br>* Pennsylvania had fertile lands, numerous streams, woodlands, and access to the Ocean which made the colony successful. <br>* The Ocean gave Pennsylvania the opportunity to thrive. <br>* The settlers farmed corn, rye and wheat for food exportation. In addition, flax and hemp farms advanced Pennslyvania's textile industry. <br><br></div>]]></description>
