When I was reading this line, it hit me like a ton of bricks. It really hit deep. It takes an extremely special heart to become a teacher. Having to navigate all of the political aspects, the social injustices, the learning paths, everything. A teacher is an educator, a healer, a protector, a parent, and everything in between all wrapped up into one.
2. This line just sums up the first one. "..teaching begins in generosity, is guided by hope and heart, and circles back once more to love." This line is what a teacher should embody. The generosity to give and help a student grow and learn, the hope and heart that it takes to help encourage learning in your students, and the love to keep doing what teachers were meant to do: mold the minds of the next generation.
3. This line is a very powerful statement. Ayers states that he sees it as a bit of a stretch, but continues through with the line. This line meant a lot to me and stood out because its a proposed list of why we teach. "We teach to change the world." That is definitely one of the reasons I chose to go back to school and take this career path.
4. This line, especially in today's day and time, hit hard. "We teach in a time of stress and crisis." With a global pandemic that started in March of 2020, teachers all over the world had to adapt quickly to teaching virtually. Education systems had to step up technology to accommodate learning virtually. This provided a challenge at first, especially for more urban and rural areas where students may not have the abilities to learn virtually from home. Teachers stepped up their game to provide for their students.
5. Teaching is always an ever changing career. Teachers are always having to learn, to grow, to gain experience, and accomplish. This helps the teacher adapt to changes in education to provide a better learning opportunity for your students. As a 21st century urban teacher, I will fight for the hope of a better future for my students. Just because my students do not come from the same background as those that attend, say private schools, does not mean they are any less smart, talented, driven, and successful as a student. I will fight for the equality and fairness for their education. 
2. This line encompasses the first line I picked. Making sure that my students know that I will teach them in a way that they deserve, that they will be challenged, and they will feel accomplished.  My students will be given the same education because that is what all students deserve. I will make sure to provide an inclusive, safe, trustworthy classroom for them to grow and learn.
3. As a teacher, I will make every effort to help change their world. I will provide them with all of the tools necessary to complete a successful learning environment. My students will be heard. I will be their voice.
4. Teaching in an urban setting will have its challenges. Lack of funds, lack of participation, lack of some many other things. These students should not have to be reminded of that. I make a promise to make sure my students have fun while learning, given the proper opportunity to grow as a student, and make sure they are set up and prepared for years to come.
5. As their teacher, I will make sure that I am always learning and evolving my teaching measures. I should be creating an inclusive space for learning and growing.
