The toughest sibling in the sorority, Beverly Mitchell, is revealed to Millicent as her “big sister.” My quote portrays my chosen literacy term because it involves two people almost as if disagreeing with how each other are. For example, Millicent describes Bev's tone as "malicious" and "unpleasant." Moreover, during the rising action of the story, Bev begins to demand Millicent complete chores, all while treating her poorly and calling her a “gopher.”

Millicent wakes up early to meet the tasks Bev wanted finished. She makes her bed and endures being ridiculed by Bev. Then, as it nears school starting, Millicent has to walk several paces behind; caring Bev's books. If that was not enough, Millicent is required to do a Charleston to school, singing, trying to out sound the other girls. My quote portrays the chosen literacy term because these are the tasks she has to endure in order to meet her goals. Even when rebellion flows through her, she chooses to remain silent in order to be part of the sorority.
