         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>motivation</strong>: a need or desire that directs behavior/ incentive theory: positive or negative environmental stimuli that motivate behavior<br>physiological vs psychological: actually hungry vs see picture of pizza<br><strong>Drive reduction theory</strong>: a physical need creates a drive to satisfy the need ex: money doesn't satisfy any needs but reduces other drives<br><strong>Maslow's hierarchy of needs</strong>: pyramid of human needs each need must be met to move up end with self-actualization<br><strong>Hunger drive/weight disorders</strong>: both internal and external reasons for hunger. bulimia and obesity (LATERAL: hungry, VENTRIMEDIAL: full)<br><strong>thirst drive</strong>: reduction of fluid in and outside of cell caused by sodium<br><strong>Sexual Response cycle</strong>:&nbsp; four stages excitement, plateau, orgasm and resolution<br><strong>psychology of sex</strong>: men and women respond to same stimuli<br><strong>sexual disorders</strong>: problems that consistently impair sexual function<br><strong>sexual orientation</strong>: heterosexual, homosexual<br><strong>Need to belong:</strong> Harlow; we need people we have a need for acceptance we will change our actions to fit in with certain groups(different monkey and mom of wire) go to cloth, love is higher reward<br><strong>achievement</strong> <strong>motivation</strong>: desire for significant accomplishment<br><strong>extrinsic</strong>: desire to perform for reward or no punishment<br><strong>intrinsic</strong>: perform a behavior for your own sake<br>Leadership style<br>-task: focus on goals, set standard(dictator)<br>- social: mediates conflict, teamwork (democratic)<br><br>X: constant monitoring, hover<br>Y: intrinsic motivation, share control<br><br><strong>IO psych</strong>: studies how managers can best enhance the workplace (industrial organizational)</div>]]></description>
