I learned that slave masters would be have to force their religion onto the slaves. This suprised me because that was written in their law, and it suprised me that was an enforced law. In todays standards forcing a religion on someone might even be considered a human rights violation. Thats why it suprised me that their religion was forced upon the slaves.

What suprised me from this source is that someone arrived with 20 slaves, and started years or slavery and racism in America. It suprised me that something so small could grow to something so large and hateful. It was like a snowball effect was put into action as soon as that colony bought the slaves. Thats why it suprised me that the 20 slaves that were brought caused years of sufferage.

What surprised me the most about this story, was the "robberies" that took place on the plantations. I also found it weird that people referred to them as robberies, instead of kidnappings. These kidnappings were terrible, and a even more horrible experience for child slaves to have to go through. I did not know about this topic, or that people would steal child slaves.

This shows how slavery evolved by showing the governments view on it, and the laws surrounding the idea of slavery. It shows the racist and sexist views of the law makers, and how many basic human rights were taken from the slaves. It also shows how religion was brought into the laws of the land. Under the French Louisiana colonies, it showed how Catholicism was meant to be forced upon the slaves, and how slave masters were required to enforce strict catholic rules.

What should be learned from this source is that slaves were traded, like objects, and were not even thought of as humans. They traded 20 humans, not actual objects, for victuals. It should be known that a human being was thought to be worth the same as food back then. I think it should be known to everyone that the mindsets of the colonist is that slaves were not equal to them, and they thought they were lower than human.

A lot from this story needs to be shared when telling the story of how slavery evolved. This story shines even more light on the cruelties that were forced upon the slaves, including children. It showed how slaves were thought of as objects. Instead of calling it a kidnapping, they called it a robbery as they thought of the children as products or objects that could be sold or used.

This connects with the other sources by showing the laws on slavery at the time. Lots of times you read the stories of slaves, or about how slavery was in America, but you don't see the laws and in detail rights that were taken away from the slaves. This code of laws definitely opens eyes, and shows a lot of the sexism and religious beliefs that were present during the writing of the laws about slavery, and in general.

This article connects with almost every other article about slavery. It shares the entire start of the history of slavery, and how it was brought to the colonies. It shows the worth of the slaves, and how they were traded. It also shows the values and views that the colonist viewed on slaves, and how they used religion to mask their bad intentions, and try to make themselves look better.

This story connects with other articles by showing how child slaves were treated during this time. It shows how they were stolen, then sold, and could end up miles away from their parents. It shows how worthy people thought of them. It also showed even more cruelties that were forced upon the slaves, and how children were stolen and ripped away from families for money.
