During the Haitian Revolution between 1791 and 1804, African slaves and their descendants fight the French Regime and Haiti becomes independent. Before Haiti became independent, it was part of France known as St. Domingue. During the 1760s, St. Domingue was the most successful colony in France due to its use of slave labor to produce sugar and coffee.
The Haitian Revolution began due to not-enslaved mixed African descendants angered due to the brutality of Slaves. This revolution was also inspired by the French Revolution just a few years prior.
In May 1791, the French government passed a law to give the affranchis class more rights and power, but the government in St. Domingue ignored this law angering many. Affranchis were children of French and African parents and were put in charge of managing French plantations on occasion. Due to the government ignoring the law and still treating civilians unfairly, the revolution started. The main subjects of this revolution were the colonists, slaves, and the soldiers of the French and British army.
On January 1st, 1804, the entire island was declared independent from France and was shortly after gained the name of "Haiti".

Between 1810-1821, the Mexican War for Independence was a call for independence from Spanish rule in Mexico. After 300 years of Spanish reigning in Mexico, Napoleans's occupation began a revolt among Indians and men of mixed races all across Spanish America.
The revolution was called by Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla also known now as "The Father of Mexican Independence." He launched the revolution with his "Cry of Dolores," and his Mexican army came close to controlling the Mexican capital. In 1811, his support and protestors were defeated and he began to travel north but was captured and executed.
Most of the support for the revolution were Royalists or people made of Spanish and Mexican descent. The idea of independence pleased those of Mexican descent because that means that they would have more power and become more respected on their own land.
In 1821, Agustin de Iturbide, the leader of the royalists brought up the plan of Iguala which would establish Mexico as an independent constitutional monarchy. This plan would maintain the position of the catholic church and make those of Mexican and Spanish descent of equal respect to pure Spanish.
On August 24, 1821, Juan de O'Donoju signed the plan to officially make Mexico an independent constitutional monarchy.

Venezuela's War of Independence began on April 19, 1810, and lasted until October 9, 1823. Led by Simon Bolivar and Francisco de Miranda, Venezuela was one of the first South American Republics to formally gain independence from Spain.
While Venezuela, back then known as New Granada, was under the rule of Spain, It was primarily controlled by a handful of wealthy families. The revolution began when Creoles, or those born of European descent, became angered due to the high taxes, limited opportunities, and mismanagement of the colony. By 1810 Venezuelan patriots held a meeting and declared provisional independence meaning they would rule themselves until the Spanish Monarchy was restored. This was a win for those who just wanted change, but a half win for those who wanted complete independence, such as Simon Bolivar.
This time of ruling became known as the First Venezuelan Republic. Still, many people pushed for full independence from Spain, and this idea was approved on July 5, 1811. This made Venezuela the first South American Nation to finally fully separate from Spain. Although, disaster struck on March 26, 1812, when the city of Caracas had a terrible earthquake and was also attacked by the royalists. In October 1812, Bolivar was again ready to fight. He gained a small force and went to harass the Spanish along the Magdelena river. This attempt was successful and the Spanish backed off.
The battle of Carabobo was the last battle and the one that would end the war and finally claim Venezuela's independence. Miguel de la Torre combined his forces with Bolivar and this resulted in a patriotic victory and secured Independence.

The Argentinean movement of independence began in 1810 and ended in 1818. The first event which started the Argentinean Revolution was when the British attacked Buenos Aires in 1806-1807.
When France invaded Spain during the Peninsular War, the Spanish Empire refused to recognize Joseph Bonaparte as the official ruler of Spain. Nearing the end of this war, the Spanish resistance was on track to be defeated. This caused a handful of members of the disestablished junta to retreat to Cadiz, Spain's last stronghold. Here, they formed a new absolutist way of government which led to the May revolution in the viceroyalty of the Rio de la Plata, or present-day Argentina.
This soon separated the Rio de la Plata into two sections, being those who supported the new form of government and those who supported the Council of Regency.
On March 18, 1818, Osorio and the patriot army were defeated, then the rebels won the final battle, the Battle of Maipu. The Patriots taking this defeat had to retreat to Concepcion and never again launched an attack.

When Portugal was first invaded by Napoleon's forces in 1807, the King of Portugal, João VI, retreated to Brazil. This influenced colonies and royal families to leave Portugal as well. By March 7, 1808, many people migrated to Rio de Janeiro, south of Brazil, which convinced many that a new era has dawned for Brazil. Here, João VI abolished the Portuguese commercial monopoly on Brazilian trade, as well as opening Harbors to allies such as Great Britain.
Brazil underwent many regional revolts, some of which resulted in thousands of deaths. Despite the losses, the country remained economically stable and the government intact. The Emporer being impulsive, led to decisions that did not benefit the country. As a result of this, the government passes a law that gave the emperor more power and allowed him to select members of the senate, and have more control over the members in office.
Around 1822, fights began to break out between members of the militia, which spread inland at a rapid pace. These men were not to be stopped, not even by Portuguese forces. The use of guerilla warfare made it extremely hard to predict how and where these men would attack from.
Eventually, the Portuguese military was on the defensive and was in a shortage of men and supplies. With Brazilian forces greatly outnumbering the Portuguese defense, they eventually retreated and held power at the specific points. These points became the border of Brazil. Today there is no evidence that shows the exact number of lives taken during these battles, but historians guess in a range from 5,700 to 6,200.
