<title>As an instructor, I&#39;m demonstrating that I&#39;m connecting with my students by using their name, making eye contact with them, walking around the room, crouching down to listen in on and talk with small groups of students, answering relevant questions, listening to comments from students, weaving their comments into the themes we&#39;re exploring, asking questions, checking for understanding, etc.</title>

<title>In the physical world presence would include eye contact, vocal tone, facial animation, as well as, being physically near others. Hand gestures, touches and quick and timely interactions would all be a part of real time physical interactions. </title>

<title>For me it’s about visual, physical and real time...no matter you are talking in front the classroom, or walking among students checking on their understanding and/or providing feedback</title>

<title>Presence means that I am not surfing the Internet while my students are presenting--and hopefully they are not doing so while I am speaking, either!</title>

<title>Presence in an online course means &quot;being there&quot; for students. Providing timely feedback on submissions, posting daily announcements as a &quot;heads-up&quot; on tasks that might not make it on their radar. Monitoring their progress and sending them emails when I learn they hadn&#39;t logged into their LMS consistently for a few days.</title>
