Question 2:

In our opinion social media does more good than harm. Compared to traditional communication, it helps people stay connected instantly across the world. While some say it causes isolation, it actually allows many to find support and build communities online. As a result, it spreads information, raises awareness, and gives people a voice. When used responsibly, its benefits outweigh the negatives.

We believe social media does more harm than good and should be more strictly regulated. Although it allows quick communication, it often spreads misinformation and unrealistic standards, unlike traditional or face-to-face communication, which builds empathy. This contrast contributes to issues like anxiety and cyberbullying. As a result, excessive use has been linked to mental health problems such as depression and low self-esteem, especially among young users.

Companies should allow employees have the opportunity to work remotely if circumstances allow it. Because compared to office jobs, hybrid or remote jobs offer flexibility in time schedules. Working in an office involves traveling times and if they finish their work, they have to stay until the end of the day while remote doesn’t include a traveling time and they just do what they have to on time. This can lead to show a lower level of stress and an increase of productivity

The excessive use of social media leads to harmful consequences because users constantly compare themselves to others online and it often causes depression and feelings of inadequacy. While social media can offer positive opportunities (such as helping teenagers stay connected with friends, express themselves creatively, and access educational content) studies show that excessive use of these platforms is linked to increased rates of anxiety and depression among teenagers.

We think social media does more harm than good because it has many negative effects on mental health due to misinformation.

For example, it’s not the same to get information from TikTok as from an academic article. An article usually includes reliable sources, while on TikTok, it’s difficult to know where people get their information.

This misinformation can cause anxiety or confusion, especially when people believe false health advice or conspiracy theories. As a result, their mental well being may be seriously affected.
