Good Morning my fellow senators. If you don’t know me already I am Henry Clay from Kentucky and I want to address the debate with tariffs and slavery. To start off tariffs’s may bring more income to the government, but us senators are not thinking about our economy and our people in the long term. If the British were to raise prices on cloth, our people may stop buying these products because of our tariffs which raise prices drastically. With, cloth manufacturing being a huge part of our economy, money will drop. We must compromise tariffs. Now for my final piece of the day, slavery, I own 60 brilliant slaves that help me with my life every day and thought of abolishing slavery shouldn’t even be a thought in the near future. Thank you gentlemen.

Good morning my fellow delegates. Most of you know that I am John C. Calhoun and I speak for slavery and the south, as you may know I was born and raised in South Carolina and still live there to this day. I have gathered you this morning to discuss several very important issues we currently have in our country. First of all slavery should be legal because they help stabalize our economy and help grow a lot of raw materials but also if there was no slavery the slaves wouldn’t have a place to live or settle so if they work for us they get a place to live and food to eat. Also without slavery the North wouldn’t have the raw materials it has and shortly our economy would fall. Along with that the south shouldn’t have to suffer because England's products were cheaper and the North wasn’t making money so they had to add tariffs so we would be forced to buy products from the north rather than England. We can't keep compromising on every issue or our country will be split in half because we can’t agree on any issue such as tariffs and slavery.

Slavery runs the southern economy, if you get rid of them who is going to do the work? We need our slaves to harvest all of the raw materials for your factories. If we don't have the raw materials, we can't make the goods. If we don't have slaves, we won’t be able to possibly harvest the raw materials to make all of these goods. If we don't have slaves it will hurt the economy in the south, but it will also hurt the economy in the north because we won't have enough materials to make the goods, which means we will sell less goods if we don't have goods to sell.

Good Morning my fellow congressman. You all know me as Daniel Webster, from Massachusetts, and I am representing the North side. I graduated Dartmouth in 1801, and I went on into politics speaking out against wars and other problems. Some of you don't agree with the tariffs that were created, but you need to realize that they are leading us to a life of success. Our factories have been more successful with these tariffs than they ever were before without them. If we get rid of the tariffs, our businesses will fall. If we don't have our businesses, we will soon go into debt and this will not be good for our country. I also came here to talk about slavery. The South is forcing slaves to do their work because they don't want to do it. The farmers in the South are making excuses for why they can't do the farm work, when they simply just don't want to do it. Farmers are buying more and more slaves to clean the raw materials, but why don't they do it themselves, with the other farmers, or their family. They should not force slaves to do the work when the farmers get the money. In conclusion, I think that tariffs are necessary, and slavery is unecessary.

Hello and good morning! If you don't know, my name is Daniel Webster and I am from the North, in Massachusetts. I am here to talk about some issues. Before we get into that I just wanted to say that In the North we mostly have factories where we manufacture goods, it makes everything cheaper because they are easier to make, it also makes the products better quality. Now I will address the issues I brought up. It seems to be that our country is disagreeing with tariffs and slavery. As a person from the North I support Tariffs, I think it will help the economy, and our country. The government helps pay for the machines, factories, and all the things we need for the economy, and tariffs are taxes sent to the government. And these taxes are used to help pay for things our country needs. As to the second problem, I do not agree with slavery. I think it is wrong to force innocent people to do your work without even getting paid. You might disagree with me, but I would love to put an end to this. If we fail to attempt this, atleast give them a salary, or a decent work area. Thank you for your time. Have a good day.
