Task 1 for Does Suspending Students Work

The claim is that suspending students is inefficient and it does not help them in any way.
Support: most school districts continue to use out-of-school suspensions even for minor disciplinary issues even though they tend to actually exacerbate problem behaviors and also may lead to academic problems. Further, out-of-school suspensions are not fairly applied with minority youth being assigned punitive suspensions at greater rates than non-minority youth according to a 2012 report by the US Department of Education. ( 2 pieces)
The type of evidence is used not so much from a statistical stand point, but more from a analytical stand point.

I believe that the idea of suspension is completely unneeded as a whole. Kids that are suspended aren´t being taught how to be better. They are just put in metaphorical timeout until they come back to school again. These articles helped me understand the topic at hand by providing new ways to deal with the old and prove that suspension does not work.

The purpose of this photo essay is to expose and show the struggle of what the homeless in Kenya have to go through each day.
The author used negative connotation in order to really emphasize how bad the conditions were using phrases like society is hiding and words like skinny and rigid.
The author entirely used Pathos in order to make the reader pity who the author is writing about and to really make them feel the struggle that the homeless Kenyans go through.
Negative connotation evoked the emotional feeling of sadness which ultimately got the point across as to how things were and are for these homeless people. This photo essay was meant tug at the heart strings of the reader in order to persuade them to help the cause.

Nothing really surprised me with this topic due to having experience with seeing homeless people daily. You go out on the streets of Cincinatti and can easily spot a homeless man or woman. Naturally, you feel bad and want to help, but most of the time no one does. I´ve never had experience with their struggle, but I can certainly sympathize and understand what their life may be like. I think its great that people want to help and I think they should continue to do so in order to get the max amount of people off the streets.

The Claim is that we should encourage authorities and any readers to watch for Danger Signs in Teens in terms of Mental Health.
Evidence: Keep communication constant, open, and honest: Your children should not only know that they can talk to you about anything, you have to be committed to broaching topics of concern and do so openly. Talk about your own experiences and fears when you were an adolescent. Let them know that they are not alone; nor are their anxieties unique.
While all of us are subject to “the blues,” clinical depression is a serious medical condition requiring immediate treatment.
