Focusing on low-and no tech modalities to reach the most marginalized:
Teacher plays a significant role in helping those students who opt to have low-and no tech modalities.
Timely feedbacking and constant monitoring are vital to assist the learners and help them improved despite the absence of face to face classes.
To do this, teachers need to allow learners to choose their preferred platform as to how they can be communicated because not all learners can join class group chats due to lack of internet connection and absence of smartphones.
For the latter's concern, we teachers may utilize SMS to communicate with our students to build constant communication with them most specially those who badly need our assistance.

Managing a class of learners under different distance learning modalities.

With distance learning, schools and teachers face great challenges as we aim to make learning equitable at all levels of community. As a classroom teacher, the challenge falls on how to meet the needs of students with learning and thinking difficulties. Students were greatly affected by the situation now, some of those who excel before are now falling behind because they are not used to distance learning modalities, but some took advantage of the situation because they can make a living while they are studying due to the flexibility of the delivery of education now.

Teachers should be adept enough in delivering differentiated instruction to diverse learners at this challenging time in the education sector, but teachers can’t do it alone, the support of the parents and the community take a big part of the success on delivering quality education.

With the current limitations in measuring students' learning, much responsibilities are given to the teachers to facilitate and monitor learning despite the absence and distance set by the pandemic. As time passes, teachers were able to initiate and think of certain activities to assess students' learning. Moreover, DepEd is always trying its best to assist the schools and mentors in terms of their needed support. Hence, I believe that open communication between the school head, teachers, parents and students is important in checking the learning status of students and devising interventions to address concerns and problems that confront them. Also, we teachers should continuously upgrade ourselves with pedagogical knowledge and technological skills since this is much needed in the learning assessment nowadays. Though not all students may have gadgets and internet connection, at least we can be "nearer" to some if not all of them. In the implementation of distance learning, one of the challenges that we continue to encounter is the readiness of both the parents and the students to the new learning modalities.

Obviously, majority of our students are only familiar with face to face learning modality. As we shift from the traditional way of teaching to distance education, a new layer of responsibility was added to both the parents as home learning facilitators and the students.

The new ways of learning as required by our situation today demands more time of engagement of the parents to their children and a new way of learning to the students. Apparently, there is a need for our students to embrace ways to survive distance education. Becoming self-directed learners is now fundamental to every student to respond with the challenges of distance learning.

Helping the parents understand the use of Weekly Home Learning Plan will help them guide their children in performing and doing the learning tasks every day. The WHLP defines the learning goal and translates this into learning tasks. When there is clarity of these two important components of distance learning, students become self-directed.

Having a daily schedule congruent to the WHLP and being consistent in following the daily schedule will help our students become self-directed learners. Teachers must also help the parents to better understand how to implement the learning tasks indicated in the WHLP. Intermediate grade level students to high school students can also follow the learning tasks in the WHLP independently. When our learners are trained to use the WHLP correctly, this will contribute to their success to becoming self-directed learners.

Blending MDL with ODL will also help both the teachers facilitate the learning of students and will also contribute in providing scaffold to the students as they gradually become self-directed learners.

It takes commitment and communication among the teachers, parents and students to survive distance learning. 1. Given the situation that we are facing today in the field of education, there are a lot of creative ways to check the level of progress our learners in learning.
2. In today's modern world, the use or integration of technology like mobile and web applications is highly encouraged because many, if not some, of our learners are exposed to these. In my personal observation, learners find learning engaging and interesting when they are given tasks to accomplish using applications like TikTok, Quizizz, or Kahoot.
3. Also, one way of assessing a learner's knowledge of a certain topic is to ask simple questions. With these kind of questions, learners may be motivated to explore more and learn the given lesson to them.

In this webinar, There are different things that students, teachers, administrators and communities are lacking and we need the knowledge and collaboration of everyone to achieve this new normal.

As a teacher in the new normal, I have experienced a lot of changes and some of it were in the webinar. I think the important lesson I have learned here is to have collaboration. From the Communities or Stakeholders of the School to the Administrators of the School that would help teacher and learners have the quality of learning that they are supposed to have even in the new normal.

The target of our education now is that all must be included an no one will be left behind. With the right technology, software and the cooperation of each, we can successfully achieve the goal.

With the onslaught of COVID-19, routines that were taught and mastered in school were re-taught with the assistance of parents and caregivers at home. Though it was very difficult at first, it was do-able. It may not be seamless or perfect but it is achievable. As a teacher, we must have a mindset or a wider perspective that there must be no learner left behind and indeed education is for all. It is really tasking on my part because not only the online learners are demanding of our time but also their parents. They keep on messaging me about the lessons, the date of submissions and even the platform that they will use to submit their work. But all these were already taken up and instructed during the class. I cannot ignore them also because they are asking and so I can say that more time has been given to those learners in this modality than those in the modular distance learning. In MDL , once you have distributed the modules to the parents, they will communicate with you if they have some clarifications.
