<title>Universal Design of Accessibility by Richard Kennedy</title>
      <link>https://padlet.com/drk_52588481/qpf26o2os2xo</link>
<description>Means of access to the education and training center, where I spend my work day. I think this building was constructed in the mid-late 1990&#39;s. The front door is double sided sliding - automatic open and close. The entrance provides ample space and time for handicap entrance and exit. The front door may also be opened with minimal force applied by scissoring your thumb and fore-finger, should building power fail. This is important for emergency egress.
The elevator and a staircase are available for access to offices on the second floor. This design is not perfect. This front door is the only handicap access or exit. If a building fire were to breakout in this area pictured and egress by this door was not possible, there is no other handicap entrance or exit to the building. There is one other non-UD exit. If a building fire were to disabled the elevator, there is no handicap/wheelchair ramp from the second floor. The buddy system or fire rescue would be the other means for emergency egress.</description>
