I finished the book "A Dog's Purpose" while I was reading "White Fang" and I made a connection from the abridged version of "White Fang" (what I read already) and both stories end up somewhere on a farm. I can't quite remember which farm, but I do remember White Fang ends up in a city eventually, then goes to the country. The dog in "A Dog's Purpose" visits the countryside, so in both novels, a canine ends up somewhere in the country at some point in the book

I am making a text-to-text connection from the book "The Martian" to the number of star wars books that are out there. This book makes me think of star wars because they are both placed on another planet. In this book a man is trapped on Mars on a mission gone horribly wrong. In star wars, there are tons of planets and stars that people travel to on missions. Sometimes they get stuck on those planets for days as well, and they have to try and communicate with their home world to get rescued, sort of like how this man in "The Martian" is about to travel 3200 kilometers to try and contact Earth to get rescued. These two stories are somewhat alike in this way.

Nineteen Eighty-Four by George Orwell

Nineteen Eighty-Four is a dystopian novel written by Eric Blair under the pen name of George Orwell about what he thinks the world would have been like in 1984. There are very clear metaphors to real world people, like the commanding figure of Big Brother to Joseph Stalin. I have only gotten a few pages into this book, but the frequent propaganda, the Thought Police and their constant surveillance and control over the populous, the deadly convictions and executions of The State, and the militarized cities reminds me of North Korea, and the Soviet Union in the past. In the book, they make Big Brother up to be a grandiose, larger than life figure that will protect The State, while also using the propaganda to induce rage in the public for Goldstien, the scapegoat traitor of The State and The Party. The severe punishments and policing of the public also reminds me of North Korea. The cities are very militarized and rundown, especially around the Ministry of Love, with machine guns, guards, and barbed wire. Everywhere in the city there are telescreens which play propaganda while simultaneously watching and listening on the other side, and with the lack of clear law, the people don't know what they can be persecuted for.

In the book School of Fear, I can relate from the text to world that everyone has a fear and more specifically many people have bigger phobias. And everyone in the text is afraid of at least one thing and I would also consider it as a text to self because I relate to the character Madeleine because we both have a fear of insects. Also, it is really cool and weird how these phobias are existing in our world today like Phasmophobia; the fear of ghosts and how there are places in the world that are helping people with getting over their fears which is pretty cool because a fictional book plot is actually happening in our lives right now which is wicked cool.

In both the real world and the book world there are people coming from other countries to the United States. In the real world there are people having financial issues and also in the book. I like how the other took these real world things and put them in the book because it makes it feel more real.

Katniss Everdeen lives in a world where everyone is split up into districts, hers being the lowly District 12. She is forced to leave her family and fight for herself against people much stronger than her. In Divergent, Beatrice's world is split up into 4 factions, hers being the plain and hated Abnegation, or selfless. She joins another faction, Dauntless(brave), and fights against teenagers her age for survival . That is why Divergent and the Hunger Games have a text to text relationship.

The reason "I" remember this is because my mom noticed my restless sleep and woke me up and talked to me abiout my dream, so she has told me about this.

But doing this is really hard for a gorilla, and he has to find the creative way out with a little bit of help. I connected this to the world because sometimes people are stuck in a bad or "small" place and its hard to get out, but its possible. You just have to find your passion and the right people to help you.

In the book, Dalton Rev is always finding new clues about Wesley's murder and is putting them together to find out what they mean. This is why my connection is a text to text connection to John Green's Paper Towns

One of my favorite shows on Netflix to watch is Grey's Anatomy and while I was watching I realized that most of the suspense in the show is built on needing an organ and a patient not getting it in time. Unwinding is where a child is chosen to get sent to a center to get taken apart and all of the child's body parts go to someone who needs them. So, I feel like unwinding and the plot of grey's anatomy (donors) are very similar things, though donors are already dead usually, unless they are giving blood, and so it is not necessary to kill people to get organs.

Francie's father, Johnny Nolan, is always making bad decisions for his family, but when he was young, he was lovable and intelligent. Around that time, Johnny's brother Andy got "consumption", at was on his deathbed at a very young age. When he was sick, the whole Nolan family grieved and prayed for his recovery. This chapter reminded me of when Beth March got scarlet fever in Little Women.

By Rick Riordan
In The Mark of Athena I am at a part where two of the demigods a fighting Narcissus (the guy who fell in love with his reflection) and his fans. The demigods took his mirror of celestial bronze. This reminds me of the real world because so many people are obsessed with the person they think they are from the way that they look they never give themselves a chance to be anything else.

I can relate this book to the books in the Harry Potter Series. I can because the most important characters meet in school and are a triangle of friends, that are trying to defeat the main antagonist. In Michael Vey, Dr. Hatch (a man trying to take over the world by using the electric kids powers to do it) is the antagonist, and in Harry Potter is Voldemort (the most evil wizard and he is trying to destroy all of the good wizards and witches). This is a text to text connection.

I can make a text to world connection because there really were groups such as the one she works for, and the setting of German occupied Paris is true to how horrible and gruesome many places were during the war.

I can somewhat related this to the Shadow Children series Margaret Peterson Haddix because there are two characters in each book that break out of their controlled lives to save the person that they loved most. In matched it's the person Cassia wants to be able to love, Ky, but the society keeps them apart and in the Shadow Children series its a friend looking for his step-brother. Both are very caring for the people they love and would go very very far distances to help them.

The main character, Sugar, is suffering through poverty, her mother having depression, and her parents' not so great relationship. A lot of people in the world suffer through these things. Sugar used to be homeless before she went to a foster family while her mom recovered. There are a lot of homeless people in this world and many kids have to go to foster homes.

by John Grisham

My book is about a boy who is forced to take an exam to see what classes he gets in. But the main character who always gets straight A's is not a good test taker, so he misses honors by one point. Out of nowhere a school that has historically low on the test gets the biggest jump in test scores in state history. Then Theo's best friends babysitters sister said that the teachers changed scores, and now Theo is finding out what to do with his information, because it could result in him getting into honors classes and not the intermidiate classes that he was previously placed in. I can make a text to text connection between this and the book Four by Veronica Roth. I say this because in Four people are tested to see where they are in there classes and being higher up in the classes means getting a better job.
