The Battle of the Marne took place between September 5 and 12, 1914. The result was an Allied victory over the Germans. The war ended with the German invasion of France, which defeated the Allied forces after the Battle of the Border in August and reached the borders of Paris. After engaging the French and British Sixth Army at the Marne River, German forces retreated north. He wanted to conquer France as quickly as possible. Germany's flight (later known as the "race to the sea") ended with the Battle of the Aisne and the blockade of the West from the north, marking the end of mobile warfare and the establishment of a static continuous front which would lead to almost four years of trench warfare.

The Battle of Verdun, lasting from February 21 to December 18, 1916, was the largest and longest battle of the First World War on the Western Front between the German and French armies. The battle took place in the hills north of Verdun-sur-Meuse, in northeastern France. The German 5th Army attacked the defenses of the Verdun Fortified Region and those of the French Second Army on the right bank of the Meuse. Inspired by the experience of the Second Battle of Champagne in 1915, the Germans planned to capture the Meuse Heights, an excellent defensive position with good observation of artillery fire on Verdun. The Germans expected the French to commit their strategic reserve to regain the position and suffer heavy losses in a battle of annihilation, at minimal cost to the Germans in tactically advantageous positions on the heights. Bad weather delayed the start of the German attack until February 21, but the Germans captured Fort Douaumont within the first three days of the offensive. The German advance slowed in the following days, despite many French casualties.

The Battle of the Somme in 1916 was one of the longest and bloodiest battles of the First World War, with more than a million wounded on both sides. British and French forces attempted to break through German lines along a forty-kilometre front north and south of the Somme River in northern France. The main purpose of the battle was to distract German troops from the Battle of Verdun; However, the wounded from the Battle of the Somme ended up being higher than those from the latter.
The battle is mainly remembered for its first day, July 1, 1916, in which the British suffered 57,740 wounded, of which 19,240 were fatal. It is the bloodiest battle in the history of the British Army. Equally was terrible for the German army the battle.

Treaty of Brest-Litovsk was signed on March 3, 1918 in Brest-Litvosk between Russia and the Central Powers. It ended Russian participation in the First World War. It was a peace desired by Lenin and his supporters, since it was one of the demands for “peace and land” that the Russian people demanded. The war was one of the main reasons for the Russian revolution of 1917. However, the treaty was detrimental to Russia. It lost important territories that represented a third of its population.

The participation of the United States in the First World War put an end to its international isolation and placed it as a key player in the international system. At the outbreak of World War I, the United States presented itself as a neutral nation, trading freely with both sides. But it began to have increasing confrontations with Germany and increasingly closer commercial and financial ties with the allies. The fear that a victorious Germany could continue its expansionist planes in the New Continent led President Wilson to decide in 1917 the intervention of the United States in the war.

The Battle of Gallipoli was fought on the Turkish Gallipoli Peninsula in 1915, during the First World War.
The battle began in February 1915 with a massive bombardment from British and French warships against the Ottoman forts defending the strait, which failed mainly due to the presence of mines in the sea, placed by the Turkish military. This failure promoted among commanders and governments the need for a combined operation, in the form of a landing, between the British and French in order to conquer the Ottoman capital of Istanbul. Control of the Straits would allow France and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland to revitalize the Russian Empire and enclose the central empires. The Russians urgently needed weapons to confront the central empires that bordered them: the German Empire, the Austro-Hungarian Empire and the Ottoman Empire.

The Bosnian crisis of 1908-1909, also known as the annexation crisis, occurred when Bulgaria declared its independence on October 5, 1908, and the following day Austria-Hungary announced the annexation of the province of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It occupied it after the Berlin Conference of 1878. Russia, the Ottoman Empire (to which these territories theoretically belonged), the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, the Kingdom of Italy, the Kingdom of Serbia, Montenegro, the German Empire and France . participated in these events. In April 1909, the Treaty of Berlin was revised to adapt it to the new situation, ending the period of crisis. However, this caused irreparable damage to relations between the Austro-Hungarian Empire, on the one hand, and Russia and Serbia, on the other. The annexation and the reaction to it was one of the causes of the outbreak of the First World War.

From the beginning, the negotiations were promoted by the national media with a Eurocentric and colonialist attitude, almost always seeing Morocco as inferior to the rest of the participating countries, which generated the need to defend the country normally.
