·      Hands on learning is better than simply memorizing facts.  It allows the students to retain information better.
 
·      Building on previous schema is an important first step in creating mental models.

I really liked this because it shows how much technology has advanced over the years. These advancements have allowed our students to grow up and learn about things, such as coding, which wasn’t even available in the 70’s. I find these forces to be absolutely incredible and I’m excited about teaching in a world with such advanced technology.

This is an interesting quote because standardized testing relates to the idea of being a cookie-cutter teacher that matches only the standards and then moves on without really providing quality experiences that students can take with them after leaving your classroom. This is one resisting change that can be adjusted by having teachers focus on the life experiences and not solely the standards that match what they are doing.
