Identity is the way in which we as humans view and express ourselves. It takes into account factors that influence who we are that we were born with, for example - sex, language, race. It also is affected by factors that have changed throughout time or with choice such as gender identity, sexual orientation, appearance, etc. Experiences that one goes through is significant to one's identity because it changes who they are and how they can see the world as well as themselves. Our identities are who we are, affecting how we make decisions, view others, dress, etc. There has been art created about identity throughout time.
