The research team implemented a new technology that recrystallizes used polycrystalline cathode materials into single-crystal nickel-rich cathode materials without destroying the original structure. Using a fusible salt mixture (LiOH–LiNO₃–Ni(NO₃)₂·6H₂O), the process forms a quasi-liquid state within seconds through particle friction—without the need for high-energy ball milling or high-temperature sintering—and induces selective surface reactions that enable simultaneous ion diffusion and structural restoration.

This process activates particle contact within just 12 minutes of mixing and helps rearrange damaged crystal structures to a single-crystal level. As a result, the manufactured NCM811 material achieved an initial discharge capacity of 198 mAh/g—over 10% higher than conventional direct recycling methods—and an initial coulombic efficiency of 87.3%. In tests applying 700mAh pouch cells, it maintained 88.1% of its capacity after 300 charge-discharge cycles, proving its practical viability.

Professor Moonsoo Yoon stated, “Because this is a low-temperature process achievable with existing mass-production equipment, it is very advantageous from a commercialization perspective. It is a simple and scalable strategy that directly converts waste batteries into high-value materials.”

This achievement is the result of a pioneering research project funded by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the National Research Foundation of Korea, and was published online on April 9 in the international scientific journal Energy & Environmental Science.

Notably, compared to wet smelting, this process generates less wastewater and allows direct recycling without structural damage, expected to lead a paradigm shift in battery recycling processes. Future tasks for commercialization include scaling up to hundreds of grams or more, accommodating various waste battery compositions, and automation design.

처음엔 화려한 CG와 압도적인 규모의 재난 장면에 시선을 뺏겼지만, 시간이 지날수록 그 안에 담긴 인간 군상의 이야기가 더 크게 다가온거 같다. 가족을 잃은 사람, 끝까지 구조를 포기하지 않는 구조대, 그리고 서로를 도우려는 시민들까지… 각자의 사연이 가슴을 울렸다. 특히 마지막 장면에서 살아남은 사람들이 서로를 껴안는 장면은, 절망 속에서도 희망을 잃지 말라는 메시지를 전해주는 것 같았다.

This scene goes beyond simple disaster relief and strongly reveals human will, solidarity, and feelings of atonement. The person who especially sympathized with him is Constantine. He was the perpetrator who destroyed a family through past accidents and lives with that guilt for the rest of his life. However, he takes risks for others without hesitation in the earthquake. His actions as if to atone for his sins felt like sincere humanity beyond simple responsibility. The biggest thing I felt while watching this movie is that human nature and hope never collapse even in extreme disaster situations. It is deeply touching to see the victims and perpetrators, strangers and citizens, soldiers and ordinary people helping and understanding each other beyond the boundaries of each other. Also, "Forgiveness" is not as easy as it sounds, but a message remained in my mind that it may become possible when someone sincerely tries to change. The movie Great Earthquake is based on the real Lenakan Earthquake and it clearly shows how people try to survive and help each other in a disaster situation at first it felt like a typical disaster movie but as time went on the emotional depth grew and it vividly expressed how terrible the power of the earthquake was making it immersive especially the father's attempt to save his family was impressive and while there were many tense scenes the humanity was well portrayed it felt more focused on real emotional expression and acting rather than CG and maybe because it was based on a true story it felt heavier and more realistic it also gave me a chance to learn about the Lenakan Earthquake and I could feel the historical significance too if you like disaster movies I think it's worth watching at least once!

However, since I watched it as a film review, the movie itself felt a bit confusing.
Also, as it is a disaster movie that reflects the situations of individual characters,
the emotional lines between characters need to be solid,
but I felt that there were too many characters,
and each of their stories felt somewhat lacking.

Still, as a movie itself, it was decent for killing time.

Personally, I think it might have been a bit too heavy to watch during an English class.

In the end, that day was filled with joy and fresh experiences shared with friends.

We operated the booth with robots we made through S/W program activities at the Seoul National University of Education Gymnasium. Nevertheless, it was fortunate that the connection was successful around 2:30 p.m. Then, a judge came and evaluated our booth, and it was finished with a statue. And for dinner, the teacher bought us a hamburger.

After the summer vacation began, I participated in the SW Companion Project. I created a work and then went to Seoul National University of Education, where I ran a booth at the event. After that, I won a bronze prize and joined the skills training club, where I learned about the competitions that my seniors were preparing for, as well as the club’s tasks and facilities.

Later, I was given about ten days of vacation, during which I prepared for a technical certification exam and also got ready for my club activities. A few days after that, I watched the Demon Slayer movie. Personally, I really enjoyed it because I liked the action and the structure, and I would like to watch it again if I have the time. Not long after, the summer vacation came to an end.

in the summer vacation, I was practically forced to go to school for an intensive camp that week. I worked hard at manual labor, and on Saturday morning at 9:34, we met at Juan Station. We took the Yongsan Express to Sindorim, transferred to Line 2, got off at Kyodai Station, and walked to Seoul National University of Education. It was my first time there, but it was huge. After working hard at manual labor, it was already over. Then, in early August, I went to a church retreat and picked up some electronics in Gongduk. Anyway, it seems like I spent more on transportation.

In August, I never left the house. I watched game YouTube webtoons at home and played games with friends via voice calls. I played League of Legends, Battlegrounds, FIFA, Valorant, and Roblox, and read various webtoons to kill time. Sometimes I watched baseball with my younger brother, but I don't like baseball that much, so I didn't watch it often. I had fun even though I didn't go out.

During the vacation, I went to Yeonpo Beach with my friends. We played in the sea, rode on a boat, and enjoyed the water. Then we decided to search for strange objects buried in the sea with our feet. I found something unusual and at first, it felt odd, so I thought I had discovered something amazing, but it turned out to be a piece of discarded rope. We went further towards the end of the sea and saw several kids playing between the rocks, and I also spotted a strange creature attached to a rock. I collected beautiful trash, like pretty stones and seashells, which are often referred to as pretty trash. After that, we had fish for dinner, watched fireworks at night, and ended the day.

I came out to school on vacation to participate in the 2025 Youth SW Accompany Project with my friends, made presentations or robots, and participated in the 2025 Youth SW Accompanying Project held at Seoul National University of Education's musk convergence gymnasium to receive a bronze medal, and the auxiliary battery, which was a prize, was given to my brother as a gift. I went on a family trip to Goheung, South Jeolla Province, on August 8th.

After arriving in Goheung, we took a boat to a floating pension on the sea and went fishing with our family.

다른책에서 나오는 비슷한 내용이 있어, 관련 책을 많이 읽은 사람들에게는 지루할 수 있다는 단점이 있지만 말이다. 여기서 본론으로 들어가서 나는 방학기간 동안 독서를 열심히 하였고, 그것에 대한 결과로 여러 긍정적인 깨달음을 얻었다. 이것에 대해서 나는 참 다행이라고 생각했다는 것이 나의 방학동안의 활동과 그에대한 배움이었다.

During the vacation period, I think I lived very diligently without a day of rest.
I read books diligently, and I gained many realizations. Because of this, it became an opportunity that reminded me once again of the importance of reading and the importance of learning. However, as with many other self-development books, it repeats the same content, and there are similar contents that appear in other books, so for people who have read many related books, it can be boring.

Here, to return to the main point, during the vacation period I read diligently, and as a result of that, I gained many positive realizations. About this, I thought it was very fortunate—that was my activity during the vacation and the learning I gained from it.

집에 돌아온 뒤에는 닌텐도 Wii와 닌텐도 OLED로 시간을 보냈다.

A friend who majors in marketing offered a fresh perspective on customer analysis, while a friend from the statistics department provided great help in verifying our hypotheses through data analysis. The best part was being able to create synergy by leveraging each other's strengths.

One thing I found a bit lacking was the limited time, which prevented us from delving deeper into more ideas. However, I also see it as a valuable lesson in solving problems and making decisions efficiently within a tight schedule. I hope that more club members will participate next semester so we can tackle projects in a wider range of fields.
